On a typical evening in Seattle, a little bit of drizzle and some chill in the air, Shannon (she/they) brought Brittany (she/her) down to the Seattle Sculpture garden for a surprise proposal! These two were visiting from out of state and making the day all about exploring the city. Just a few months before, Brittany proposed first to Shannon, and so without giving away too much, they were able to surprise Brittany with a second proposal!
Taking some time to go on a winter getaway in Seattle, Shannon figured that this was a better time than any to return a proposal! While the weather forecast was a little unpredictable, they decided that not even rain could stop their proposal.
Shannon reached out to me looking for a queer photographer to help capture the moment, as well as someone familiar with the area. We connected immediately and went though a variety of location options, meeting spots, and tips on how to keep it a surprise.
Our final location of choice ended up being the Seattle Olympic Sculpture Garden, which is just a few minutes north of the downtown. It was a beautiful park very close to their hotel stay, which made the travel over easy for them, and it's a fairly small (easily navigable) park, so we knew no one would get lost! I of course arrived 20 minutes early to make sure we knew the exact proposal location, and to find a good hiding spot. Arriving shortly after Shannon & Brittany strolled into the secluded beach area, where Shannon proposed!
With adrenaline and excitement running high I ran out from the around the corner (hopefully not scaring them too bad) where we captured some more cozy and post-engagement feels.
Crafting a surprise proposal for your partner doesn't need to be overly complicated. It can be as simple as strolling through your favorite park and popping the question! While we work together to make sure we have locations and times nailed down, the only "stress" you should feel is the adrenaline from holding back the secret for so long.
So if you're thinking of planning a proposal (or a second proposal for some of my queer couples) then don't hesitate to reach out now so we can start planning!
