A beautiful fall day exploring West Seattle with Dorian & Timothy! While the sun only came out on a few occasions, the classic PNW clouds were more than perfect for us. The day started with a intimate ceremony at Lincoln Park, then we strolled through their favorite neighborhood in Admirals district, and finished off the adventure with a ferry ride to downtown Seattle.
Elopement at Lincoln Park
Lincoln park is absolutely one of my favorite places to visit, whether its for engagements, proposals, weddings or just for a personal park stroll, this park is a MUST visit! The park held many memories for Dorian & Timothy, who began their relationship immersed in West Seattle life together. Visiting the large forested park trails and strolling along the waterfront, they loved watching the ferries come in to dock and the summer sunsets. Knowing this about them, Lincoln Park was the obvious place to share their vows, exchange rings, and show off their favorite park to their parents.
I helped the two find the perfect spot for a morning elopement. Knowing they valued a touch of privacy, but still wanted to see the views of the ocean we gathered at the top of the park along the grassy hills.
Exploring West Seattle
While the couple shared their life in West Seattle for many years, at the time of their wedding they were living on the East Coast, so during our planning meetings they emphasized how great it would be to visit some of their favorite neighborhoods in West Seattle, like the Admiral District and Alki Beach. We got to enjoy some of the amazing fall leaves at nearby parks and they showed me some of the streets they recalled touring, which I would have never found without them. Before our final adventure we took a pit stop at one of their regular cafes for a quick sip and a moment to warm up before embarking on the water taxi!
My first time on the water taxi! The couple told me about how much their family loved being on the water and taking the taxi over to Downtown Seattle for dinner or to visit the museums. Typically the taxi is used for commuting folks to get to their downtown jobs during the work week, but for us it was an opportunity to capture some more unique images of Dorian and Timothy cuddled up, gliding over the water. It was the perfect send off celebration for the couple and their family, as they departed they headed off to enjoy an early and quite dinner together.
What I loved most about this Seattle elopement was their intentionality to recreate the little moments of the life they had grown to love. While they no longer live in Seattle, they recall on these simple day to day adventures that symbolized the start of their relationship. So when they look back 10, 20, 30 years from now they will have these photos to remember where they were when their love started.
